Jack Scruby - updated - Fantasy War Game Miniatures

Edit; updated 14th April 2026 towards the bottom...

Back in September, 2012, I received a parcel off the great folks at Historifigs containing most of the old 70s Scruby fantasy range......total joy.  Nice clean castings and a trip down memory lane - remember, you have to think Minifigs ME range as the only alternative at the time...

This is an updated version of the original post with new pics (blue background). Mike Taber sent these a while ago but I misplaced them and, of course, found them again whilst looking for something else... I was sent one with looks like F9 on the base however it's the same figure as F14a... I'll leave it blank until I get more info!

Edit - addition from a 1974 Wargamer's Newseltter (Donald Featherstone)

The latest news from Jack Scruby's new Soldier Factory at P.0.3ox 1658, Cambria, Co. 95428, is contained in his Christmas Newsletter which lists a range of figures for the Tolkien Middle Earth Fantasy wargaming. In an interesting manner, Jack has used the various scales in which he manufactures to produce these perhaps queer figures. In his Newsletter he says "I went along with the Gygax scale for these figures as outlined in his rule book "CHAINMAIL" (see page 2 "Firing Into The Brown") with "men" in 50mm scale; hobbits are 9mm scale and any of my "N" gauge Ancients or the new 30 Years War figures can fill up their ranks. 20mm Ancients or 25mm Mediaevals can become dwarf armies, while the 1 inch 30 Years War models will be good for "man" size armies as well as some special Viking and Gaul 30mm figures." Jack’s list includes a 54mm Ogre: an Ent (tree); a 40mm Super-Hero in chainmail; a 30mm Wizard on a rearing horse; a 27mm Elve: a 30mm Giant Orc; a 25mm Orc; a 20mm Dwarf and a 20mm Goblin. I now feel like writing babble, babble , babble, babble!

They also did a large scale LotR style range under 'The Soldier Factory' - I'll post about them soon.
