Table Top Talk - September 1963 plus some Asgard Miniatures Orcs

Well, had the time to scan another issues and Mikal has done the honours with cropping etc.

On my Google share drive here;

Interesting letter from Allan Watson of Australia regarding the banning of lead!

That's 5 issues so far, plenty more to come!

Finished three old Asgard Orcs - these were some of Jes Goodwin's earliest sculpts back in the 80's.

Left to right; OR35 Slave Orc Archer OR33 Slave Orc with Scimitar OR8 Orc Scout

More pics of the range on Lost Minis here. They are still available (and very reasonably priced)  after all this time from Viking Forge in the USA here. Let them know I sent you!

That's it for now. Don't forget to follow the blog and become a Politico please (top left), also, if you fancy buying me a coffee, I'm always grateful... miniature collecting is thirsty work.

That da**ed collecting bug... Oldhammer eat your heart out...

Well, with a Kickstarter or two under my belt it was time to collate the eBay finds of the last few months... some a little older that a US friend had sent over but all good stuff to add to the lead mountain... lots of Minifigs Mythical Earth and Sword & Sorcery... oh the joy!

Some Citadel AD&D minis... unfortunately they'd had their slottas taken off but still nice to find. Two versions disappeared to a friend in America to complete his collection. I'll find them again one day!

Lovely miscellany of old Citadel DA, Grenadier AD&D and early Ral Partha elves.

A handful of Minifigs repairs... so many broken ones appear that I thought it was type to get the drill out.

Vulcan Miniatures... hopefully from 'The Court of Fools' as per the old ad below. Early Bob Naismith sculpts.

Ackland Miniatures bagged Citadel Spacefarers 54mm pieces... one more still to get in the baggie though. Tony said the giant robot sentinel in the Spacefarers 25mm range was originally destined for these...

This was an interesting 'bid on a whim' - turns out to be a Michael Perry early large scale sculpt, now believed to be related to RAF apprentices - groundcrew - RAF Halton (info C/O Chaz Elliott who painted one back in the day).

More Minifigs...

An Asgard Snark Dragon and the old McEwan bag header...

More Minifigs!

Three of the 4 Dragontooth Personalities I was missing...

Dragontooth Crocodile Giant... accompanied by a hand-sculpted weapon by a friend, Michael Booker... thank you!

More Minifigs along with a lone Garrison S&S demon...

Finally a Nick Bibby Citadel Chaos Demon...

That's it for now... as if it wasn't enough... who needs to pay the mortgage! Any comments or similar lots to get rid of please give me a shout on;

Asgard Miniatures Robin Hood and Maid Marian

I was looking for some wargaming minis for a friend who likes Robin Hood and happened to come across these 2 larger scale beauties on eBay... they weren't described as Asgard but they looked very old school and not 'giftware'. They have since been confirmed as Stan Pockron sculpts by Paul Sulley... Asgard being founded by Bryan Ansell, Steven Fitzwater and Paul back in 1976 until going out of business early to mid 1980's. A number of the sculpts are now produced by both The Viking Forge in America and Alternative Armies in the UK.

Most Asgard Miniatures are pictured on the Lost Minis WIKI.

I first came across them in this old Model Soldier Magazine for August 1978... in fact, my good friend Tony Yates just told me that the skeleton picture was his first published artwork! History in the making.

And on to the figures...

Asgard Miniatures - Robots, 70s style!

Back in the 70s, Asgard Miniatures were one of the biggest little companies going in the fantasy field. They had a nice sci fi range as well, full of Trimotes, Inscrutable Orts, One-Eyed Glax and Mandiblex to name but a few! They had 3 robots as well, the 3rd of which I just found in one of my boxes.....heaven knows how long it's been there! I've uploaded pics onto the Lost Minis WIKI but thought it'd be nice for a bit of old school lead here.......X1 Cyborg War Machine was sculpted by Stan Pochron (thanks Mark!),  the other 2 were sculpted by either Bryan Ansell or Tony Ackland we think (if you know differently please let me know!). Excuse a couple of blurry shots.....my hands are a little shaky these days.

X1 Cyborg War Machine

X2 Three-Arm Robot

X3 Hover Robot

If, like me, you love old school Asgard sculpts you could do with visiting Mark Stephenson's Facebook Asgard Miniatures Collectors page here. Also, if anyone has any information on Stan Pochron please get in touch! A little more information on Asgard's history here. Previous related posts here.
