Old Ral Partha reissues on Kickstarter! Chaos Wars!

Iron Wind Metals have started another Kickstarter to reissue a lot of old Ral Partha classics alongside some new sculpts........I've been chatting to Jacob Fathbruckner of Iron Wind Metals about what is happening and they have plans for lots more reissues over time. So many Tom Meier classics and also some unreleased pieces occasionally! We really need to support this venture!

Kickstarter link here.

For more pictures of old Ral Partha you can check out the Lost Minis WIKI here. Iron Wind Metals themselves are here and Ral Partha Europe here. Tell them I sent you please!!

Ral Partha CS1 Wood Elf with Bow.....Tom Meier Old School.

I haven't painted any of the Ral Partha Collector Series in a long time so decided to have a go on one that had turned up in a job lot. Having completed one I have the caught the bug for more but I have no idea where my box of them are so he will have to do for now. Excuse his left eye - I missed the mold line somehow when cleaning him up and eventually gave up trying to paint that eye......just need to finish the base and varnish him now.

When this range first came out I was overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the sculpts....no-one, in my opinion, had managed to capture the beauty of the Elven form like Tom Meier. Today it is different with the likes of Werner Klocke, Kev White etc but back in the day Tom ruled almost unchallenged.

The full CS range is listed on Lost Minis here and also on Stuff of Legends here.

I've borrowed the listing off Stuff of Legends to point out that there are gaps in the numbers - does anyone out there have any idea of anything that should be filling them? There are no catalogue clues anywhere.

Tom Meier interviewed by Iron Wind Metals......

One of the sculpting Gods of this hobby......Tom chats about his early days....if you follow the You Tube link here there are more Iron Wind Metals videos....what a place to work!

I remember seeing Tom's work when Wargames Publication (Scotland) Ltd first imported the Ral Partha line into the UK back in the 70s. 50p each - a fortune at the time but oh so 'wow' factor. Still got these old pieces, lovely soft lead.

(Edit 25/02/2022) - loads of Tom's sculpts are being re-released by Jacob Fathbruckner through Ral Partha Legacy

I had to pull out of the earlier Iron Wind Metals Kickstarter due to the divorce and the expense of buying a new house but will certainly be picking up a bunch of these releases at some point!

Things wot I painted in November.....

A mixed bunch painted during episodes of insomnia. Sleeping pattern is completely thrown at the moment....bed at 8, wake at 12, back to bed at 3, up at 5, children to school....then back to bed. Getting back to work seems to give me the only continuity in that I have to stay awake all night! Anyway, less waffle.....on to the pics....

4 more Wargames Foundry Pirates, sculpted by the talented Will Hannah....

Black Scorpion Pirate (Adam Clarke sculpt)

Black Scorpion Orc Pirate.......

Old Glory drunken Cossack.....many more to come from this assorted pack of goodies....have a look at the whole range here.

Westwind Pirate from the oop 50 Fathoms range....

Citadel Slann......I have collected these ever since they came out 30 years or more ago...this is the first one I have finished. I decided to go for a red base instead of the 'standard' green....the best resource for these is via the Collecting Citadel Miniatures WIKI.

Tom Meier sculpts from Ral Partha's old historical line...sculpted around 1977...now available via Iron Wind Metals..

Redoubt Enterprises lute player from their very nice Three Musketeers range........

Werner Klocke Goblin Pirate for Goblinaid....

The first of my Finns from Baker Company's Winter War Kickstarter

Last but by no means least, Wargames Foundry limited re-release Citadel Sci Fi Fishmen. Top sculpts and a big thank you to Marcus at Foundry. More on the way.

C&C welcome. As usual; enquiries@deartonyblair.co.uk
