Minifigs - MiniMiniFigs - 5mm 'scale' blocks

I picked up a great miscellaneous bunch of old stuff recently and there were two of these in... I had no idea what they were exactly until I was reearching further and came across the Wargaming Hermit blog;

Lots of images on there of the various types (still no WW2 images found as yet) and I can only find one of my blocks, possibly 5M 2 French Line Infantry though I could be wrong... they really are very tiny. The range didn't last very long as apparently Neville Dickinson couldn't find anyone to sculpt what he wanted.

Anyway, a few close ups of mine... There's nothing on the base... just checked as I'd forgotten to take a pic!

The listings from my 1972 catalogue...

They were an interesting idea at the time. It was these as much as anything that inspired the idea of casting the Warmaster range as whole ranks. The same idea has been carried over into the Warlord epic ranges - so I guess these were more influential than they were commercially successful. I had a very few of the ancients too - nice wee elephants! The WW2 ranges were very short lived - I think folks just gravitated towards the much larger ranges from the likes of Skytrex and Leicester Micro-Models, as well as GHQ - which were streets ahead in terms of design. I do have a complete army of these horse and musket types somewhere.
